Privacy Policy (POPIA)

ServiceSeekers respects your privacy. This policy explains how we process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).
1. Responsible party and Information Officer
ServiceSeekers is the responsible party for personal information processed through serviceseekers.co.za. Our Information Officer can be reached at the email address below.
2. What we collect
- Business owners: business name, contact person, phone and WhatsApp number, email, website, location, category, description and photos you submit for a listing.
- Payments: handled by PayFast. We receive payment status and reference details, never your card or bank details.
- Visitors: quote requests open your own email app and go straight to the business — we do not receive or store them. We collect basic, anonymous visit statistics (pages viewed, device type, country).
3. Why we use it
- To review, publish and manage business listings (with the owner's consent).
- To process subscriptions, send payment, renewal and cancellation emails.
- To answer enquiries and improve the website.
We process information based on your consent, to perform our agreement with you, or for our legitimate interest in running a safe directory. We do not sell personal information or send marketing without your consent.
4. Published information
Business details you submit for a listing are shown publicly once approved. Only submit details you are authorised to publish.
5. Sharing
We share information only with service providers who help us run the site (hosting and database, email delivery and PayFast), under appropriate confidentiality and security obligations, or where the law requires it. Some providers may store data outside South Africa, in countries with adequate data protection laws or under binding agreements, as POPIA permits.
6. Security and retention
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and restricted access. We keep listing information while your listing is active and for as long as needed for legal, tax and accounting purposes afterwards, then delete it.
7. Your rights
- Ask what personal information we hold about you and request a copy.
- Ask us to correct, update or delete your information, or remove your listing.
- Object to processing or withdraw consent at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (South Africa): inforegulator.org.za, complaints.IR@inforegulator.org.za.

8. Children
This site is not intended for people under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
9. Changes
We may update this policy and will post the new version on this page.
